Hi, I am Jake, and I am so glad to introduce myself to you. I am passionate about helping clients work through their problems in an authentic, empathic way. I use a client - driven approach to empower clients to learn and practice new relationship skills that will bring them more happiness. As a therapist, I have continued to develop by participating in numerous trainings offered by colleagues of mine and developing a broader scope of expertise while also allowing my experiences with clients to help me grow as a therapist.
My therapeutic style consists of a client-driven, authentic, and empathic approach utilizing the tools of experience, humor, play, and psychoeducation to foster growth and change in clients.
Personally, I grew up in a lower socioeconomic status in Los Angeles County, where I developed a love of the weirdness of humans. As I grew, I found a significant lack of support for families and relationships as they develop, especially my own. When I moved to Colorado with my spouse in 2018, we came here with no friends, no family, and very limited support. In the time since then, I have found more and more the value of Found and Forged Family and Community. My passions outside of therapy include learning new skills, playing games of all kinds, consuming media (books, movies, music etc.), spending time with my spouse, and caring for my cat.
